Isaiah Morehead is a psychotherapist in Seattle, WA

Meet Isaiah Morehead, LMHC, a therapist for men in Seattle, WA

What is your current role as a mental health professional in Washington?

MA, LMHC, NCC, CCTP

Where do you provide services?

Seattle, WA. Greater Seattle Area and Washington State

What kind of services do you provide? Any special populations or certifications?

Emotion-focused, attachment theory treatment, focusing on trauma, anxiety, and attachment-based issues. I hold a certified clinical trauma professional certification (CCTP) and enjoy working with a variety of clientele, especially men (including women) and those from diverse cultural backgrounds.

How does your service help people live mentally healthy lives?

My focus centers around people embracing and normalizing every aspect of their emotional lives, not just the positives or negatives, in order to live a well-balanced life. Relationship is often the catalyst of healing, and I strive to serve an even pacing between empathy and sometimes facing hard truths.

What kind of people do you love working with?

Men, but also women, teens, students, and adults from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Why did you decide to become a mental health professional?

The youngest of four, I was the first in my family to pursue higher education and graduate school. Growing up, I was raised with an aunt who had dementia who was not treated as she should have been. This -coupled with putting myself through school- sent me down a trajectory of valuing authentic relationships and conversation, but wanting to empathize with those who seek to better themselves, find a sense of home, and live meaningful lives.

What do you wish people knew about services with you?

People get out of it what they put into it. Or put another way, help is only "help" when it is deemed helpful. I love a conversational approach or collaborative approach, but also love jumping in with psychoeducation when it is clinically appropriate.

What is your favorite way to take care of your mental health?

Working out and hitting the gym, the dog park, long weekend hikes, vacations that detach me from the office, getting coffee, food, or drinks with friends, journaling, reading, and writing, and more!

"It Didn't Start with You: How Inherited Family Trauma Shapes Who We Are and How to End the Cycle" by Mark Wolynn.
